Job summary

UKCIL is seeking a Personal Care Assistant to support two brothers, aged 7 and 8, in Prudhoe. The role is 4 hours per week term time and 8 hours per week in school holidays, paid at £14.67 per hour.

Responsibilities include helping with personal care, taking the boys to leisure activities, and providing constant supervision due to autism and communication needs. A driving license is preferred but not essential; DBS check will be carried out by the employer.

Qualifications

• Experience of working as a support worker with children or adults with complex needs, especially autism.
• Knowledge of PECS and/or speech therapy is an advantage.

Personal Care Assistant for two young boys P/T@ £14.67/hr in Prudhoe

To provide support for two brothers aged 7 years and 8 years old for 4 hours per week during term time weeks and 8 hours per week during school holiday weeks. The role is to take the boys out separately in the community so that they can access leisure activities.

Main Duties

We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to provide support for these little boys on separate days. They both have a diagnosis of autism, and the youngest sibling is also non-verbal and uses PECS to communicate and requires support with personal care. They can both struggle to regulate their emotions and have no danger awareness and will need constant support and supervision to keep them safe. The youngest little boy enjoys being around people and going to the park, climbing, running around and being active, swimming and soft play.

As this role is to ensure his safety you must be in good general health as there will be some physical aspects to this role such as running to keep up, lifting and carrying when needed and supporting in the swimming pool. He has no awareness of danger and needs constant supervision and uses reigns when walking outside.

The older little boy enjoys football, swimming and outdoor play. We would prefer you to be a car driver with your own transport, however this isn’t essential. Expenses will be met by your employer.

4 hours per week during term time weeks - per child
8 hours per week during school holidays - per child

Rate of pay £14.67 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rate

Person Specification

• Ideally you will have experience of working as a support worker with children or adults with complex needs and especially with autism
• Having knowledge and awareness of PECS and/or speech therapy would be an advantage
• Have a positive understanding towards children with disabilities
• Have a high degree of initiative
• Be punctual and reliable
• Be flexible
• Have a happy, positive and caring nature
• Respect confidentiality.

An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by employer.
