Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is offering a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice role within a busy pharmacy team. The position focuses on safe medicine supply and developing the skills to become a registered Pharmacy Technician.

You will work closely with pharmacists, gain hands-on experience, and progress toward a nationally recognised qualification through the integrated Level 3 program. There is potential for full-time employment after successful completion.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs at A-C or 4-9 in Maths and English; part of course if not present.
  • Maths/English Level 2 or equivalent required or tested for suitability.
  • Interest in pharmacy and healthcare with willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, order, receive and supply medicines and products safely.
  • Provide patient advice on prescriptions and OTC meds; refer as needed.
  • Support daily pharmacy operations, stock control and governance.
  • Supervise and support front-line staff as you progress.
  • Assist with training and mentoring new team members.

About the role:

As a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will support the safe, effective and lawful supply of medicines while working closely with pharmacists and the wider healthcare team. We are recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice to join a busy pharmacy team. This role is ideal for someone looking to progress within pharmacy and develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a registered Pharmacy Technician.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing, ordering, receiving and supplying medicines and pharmaceutical products safely and accurately

Providing person‑centred advice to patients on prescription and over‑the‑counter medicines, referring to healthcare professionals where appropriate

Supporting the day‑to‑day running of the pharmacy, including business processes, stock control and clinical governance

Supervising and supporting pharmacy support staff as you progress in the role

Assisting with training and mentoring new members of staff

Maintaining high standards through auditing, evaluating services and responding to feedback

Working Week

Mon-Sat 9am-6pm Sun 8am-6pm (hours worked between)

Qualifications Required

GCSEs at A-C or 4-9 or equivalent, in Maths and English desired but not essential as can be provided as part of the course.

For applicants without Maths and English Level 2 or equivalent qualifications, employment will be offered on condition of completing initial Maths and English tests to determine suitability for the course.
