Job summary

Skills 4 Pharmacy in Carnforth is offering a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice role designed to train you to become a registered technician. You will work closely with pharmacists and the healthcare team to gain hands-on experience and complete the Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship.

Training is blended with on‑the‑job learning, and successful completion leads to GPhC registration. The scheme supports career progression and may lead to full-time employment on completion.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs in Maths and English are desirable, may be provided as part of the course.
  • Willingness to complete Maths and English tests if required for the course.

Responsibilities

  • Managing, ordering, receiving and supplying medicines safely.
  • Providing patient advice on prescription and OTC medicines.

  • Supervising staff as you progress in the role.
  • Assisting with training and mentoring new staff.
  • Auditing services and responding to feedback.

Job description

About the role:

As a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will support the safe, effective and lawful supply of medicines while working closely with pharmacists and the wider healthcare team. We are recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician Apprentice to join a busy pharmacy team. This role is ideal for someone looking to progress within pharmacy and develop the skills and knowledge needed to become a registered Pharmacy Technician.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing, ordering, receiving and supplying medicines and pharmaceutical products safely and accurately

Providing person‑centred advice to patients on prescription and over‑the‑counter medicines, referring to healthcare professionals where appropriate

Supporting the day‑to‑day running of the pharmacy, including business processes, stock control and clinical governance

Supervising and supporting pharmacy support staff as you progress in the role

Assisting with training and mentoring new members of staff

Maintaining high standards through auditing, evaluating services and responding to feedback

Level 3 Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship (equivalent to A‑level)

On successful completion, you will be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Training delivered through a blended learning approach alongside your job

What we’re looking for:

Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety

Good communication and customer service skills

Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment

Willingness to commit to the full length of the apprenticeship and working hours

Working Week

Mon-Fri 8am-9pm (may include some Saturdays)

Qualifications Required

GCSEs at A-C or 4-9 or equivalent, in Maths and English desired but not essential as can be provided as part of the course.

For applicants without Maths and English Level 2 or equivalent qualifications, employment will be offered on condition of completing initial Maths and English tests to determine suitability for the course.
