You will help him access local activities, encourage social engagement, and build his independence, confidence and peer relationships while ensuring safety during outings.

The role involves flexible hours, with up to 4 hours per week, and some weekend or school holiday availability. DBS checks are required, and sponsorship is not available. Own transport is desirable.

Job description

Personal Assistant for an Autistic Young Person

Personal Assistant required for a happy 14-year-old boy, living in the Padstow area, who has Autism and enjoys an active lifestyle, riding his scooter, swimming and using the local park facilities.

He also enjoys reading and computer games.

Personal assistant to provide support for this young person to access his local community and to develop his independence skills. The personal assistant will also encourage him to access local social groups, support his communication and to develop his confidence and assist him to build relationships with his peers.

Rate of pay £15 per hour.

Up to 4 hours per week are available, although this is very flexible.

Some weekend and school holiday availability will be required.

Own transport is desirable.

The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
