Job summary

Prison Advice and Care Trust (PACT) is seeking a Family Support Worker (Visits Centre Assistant) to join our Visitor Centre team. Based in the visits centre, you will provide essential support to families, facilitate visits, organise family days and support play services to ensure families feel welcomed during challenging times.

You will work with the PACT Family team, applying safeguarding knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills to build partnerships with a range of agencies and staff.

Qualifications

  • Experience and understanding of working with families in challenging environments, ideally involving offenders and/or their families.
  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage a demanding workload.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding/child protection practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to build partnerships with a range of agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support, advice and guidance to families visiting the prison.
  • Facilitate prison visits and organise family days.
  • Support play service and children’s activities in the visits centre.
  • Help ensure families feel welcomed and supported during visits.

Job description

Join us as a Family Support Worker (Visits Centre Assistant) and become an integral part of our dedicated team at the Visitor Centre. You'll be at the heart of providing essential support to families visiting their loved ones. With a range of services including play and children's activities, as well as catering, you'll play a vital role in ensuring families feel welcomed and supported during their visits.

Working alongside the PACT Family team, you'll primarily be based in the bustling visitor centre and visits hall, where you'll offer valuable support, advice, and guidance to families. From facilitating prison visits to organising family days, and supporting the play service, you'll make a real difference in the lives of those affected by incarceration. Join us in this rewarding role where you'll be part of creating meaningful connections and providing much-needed support to families during challenging times.

About You:

To be successful in this role you will have experience and understanding of working with families in a challenging environment, ideally involving offenders and/or their families. You will also have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a demanding work load. You will have the ability to contribute to planning and development of Pact’s family work and also have knowledge of safeguarding/child protection practice. Furthermore you will have excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in build partnerships with a range of agencies.

£26,227.50 per annum full time earnings, £11,190.40 actual earnings
