Your new role

You will become an integral member of a highly supportive classroom team, working alongside an experienced class teacher and at least three Teaching Assistants.

With class sizes of just 3-7 pupils, you will have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with the children you support and provide genuinely personalised support based around their individual needs.

The school supports pupils across the primary age range with a variety of complex and profound needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and other additional needs.

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support and personalised care to pupils
  • Supporting pupils with complex and profound learning, developmental and behavioural needs
  • Using PECS, Makaton and SALT strategies to support communication and speech and language development
  • Implementing positive and proactive behaviour management strategies
  • Using sensory resources and interventions, including sensory rooms, fidget toys and sensory equipment
  • Supporting pupils through positive reinforcement and individualised behaviour approaches
  • Working closely with Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and other external professionals
  • Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and sensory needs
  • Providing personal and intimate care where required
  • Supporting pupils during break and lunchtime
  • Working closely with teachers and colleagues to ensure every pupil receives consistent, high-quality support
