Job summary

Royal Mail is looking for a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bideford to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift schedule. You’ll work outdoors, in all weather, and build relationships with customers while on foot or in a van. Full manual UK licence required and a driving assessment will be provided.

Training, a uniform, and a red van are supplied. The role is fixed term for 9 months, with 35 hours per week across five days, including some weekends.

Qualifications

• Willingness to drive Royal Mail van daily and pass driving assessment.
• Physically fit to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 35hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in four Sundays at Barnstable Delivery Office, EX3 8XX.

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• - A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• - Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• - Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• - Reliable and self-motivated
• - Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• - Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• - Comfortable working outdoors and independently
