ASI Recruitment Ltd are working with a small independent specialist garage to recruit an experienced Vehicle Technician to join their team of four. You’ll have your own ramp and workspace, no production line, and a genuinely varied workload—from diagnostics and fault finding to servicing, engine work and general workshop repairs on current models through to around 15 years old.
Mercedes experience would be preferred but not essential.
“Because ‘have you tried turning it off and on again?’ doesn’t work on cars.”
Vehicle Technician – Independent Specialist Garage
Monday–Friday | 8:15am–5:30pm | 42.5 hours per week
Let’s be honest. You didn’t become a Vehicle Technician because you enjoy sitting behind a desk, drinking lukewarm coffee and attending meetings about meetings.
You became a technician because you like fixing things.
And if you enjoy a bit of diagnostics, a bit of mechanical work, a bit of engine work and the occasional battle with a bolt that clearly hasn’t been touched since 2009, this could be right up your street.
We’re recruiting on behalf of an independent specialist garage looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join their team of four.
You’ll have your own ramp, your own workspace and a genuinely varied workload. No production line. No being stuck doing the same service job 14 times a day. Just good, varied workshop work and the occasional opportunity to ask yourself, “Who designed this?”
The garage works on everything from current models through to vehicles around 15 years old, so there’s plenty to keep things interesting.
You’ll be getting involved with:
In short, it’s a proper mixed-bag technician role.
You’ll have your own ramp and dedicated work area, so you can get on with the job without someone constantly asking if you’ve “had a look at that one yet?”
We’re looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician who knows their way around a workshop and doesn’t need Google to tell them which end of a ratchet to hold.
You’ll need good diagnostic and mechanical skills, the ability to work independently and pride in doing a job properly.
Mercedes experience would be preferred, but it’s not essential.
More important is that you’re a competent all-round technician who can look at a fault, diagnose the problem and fix it without replacing half the car “just in case”.
If you can hear a funny noise from 20 feet away and immediately say, “That’ll be the ___,” even better.
This isn’t a huge dealership where you’re just another pair of hands and your day is dictated by a job card printer that seems to have a personal grudge against you.
It’s a small independent specialist garage where you’ll know the people you work with, have your own space and get to work on a proper variety of vehicles.
You’ll get the good jobs, the awkward jobs, the interesting jobs and, inevitably, the jobs where you stare at the car for five minutes wondering who thought that was a sensible place to put a bolt.
If that sounds like your kind of workshop, we should probably have a chat.
And if you’ve ever said, “it’ll only take 10 minutes” and then still been working on it two hours later… you’ll fit right in.
We also offer a £75 voucher referral reward if you recommend a candidate who we successfully place.
