Job summary

Camphill Village Trust in England is seeking a Waking Nights Support Worker at Ashfield House to provide autonomous assistance to the People We Support, helping them realise independence, choice, inclusion and control.

You will monitor conditions, support personal care and medication needs, complete plans and records, and work with families and social workers while staying awake through the night.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily monitoring sheets for such food, fridge, freezer, medication cabinet temperatures, bowel charts, weight charts and fluid charts etc.
  • Where appropriate registration is in place, assist with or arrange for personal care such as bathing and hair washing, possibly helping with toilet, incontinence, bathing and showering with dignity and privacy.
  • Administer, record, order, check and count medication.
  • Undertake related paperwork including support plans, daily updates, person profiles, risk assessments, incident reporting, behaviour reports and health appointment notes.
  • Complete home security checks.
  • Respond to any requests by the People We Support.
  • Complete necessary cleaning of the home, including kitchen and bathroom.
  • Complete necessary checks throughout the night.
  • Work within policies and promote equality, diversity and human rights to realise independence, choice, inclusion and control.
  • Undertake training and professional development in line with regulatory requirements and service needs.
  • Work in close partnership with family and other professionals.
  • Pursue personal development to align practice with our philosophy and values.
  • Must stay awake throughout full duration of the shift.

We have an opening for you to join us as a Waking Nights Support Worker at Ashfield House. The purpose of the role is to provide autonomous assistance to the People We Support to fulfil their potential for independence, choice, inclusion, and control.

You will be responsible for ensuring that care and support is of a high standard, focused on person centred outcomes and delivered within budget.

You will ensure that all needs assessments, support plans and risk assessments are kept up to date. There will also be direct engagement and liaison with social workers, family members and key workers as required.

Hours:

Please note, this position is based on a rolling rota, with the following hours:

Week 2: Tuesday & Friday (19:45pm – 07:15am)

Week 3: Monday & Tuesday (19:45pm – 07:15am)

Week 4: Friday & Sunday (19:45pm – 07:15am)

Please note that this may involve supporting people to the toilet, to manage incontinence, to bathe and shower etc and enable people to manage all of this, with regard for their dignity and privacy.
  • Administer, record, order, check and count medication.
  • Undertake related paperwork including support plans, daily updates, person profiles, risk assessments, incident reporting, behaviour reports and notes/updates on health appointments.
  • Complete home security checks.
  • Respond to any requests made by the People We Support, should they require assistance.
  • Complete any necessary cleaning of the home, including kitchen and bathroom.
  • Complete necessary checks throughout the night.
  • Work within the Community’s policies and procedures and code of conduct, actively promoting the equality and diversity and the human rights of the People We Support to realise independence, choice, inclusion, and control.
  • Undertake training and continuous professional development in accordance with The Care Quality Commission, local authority requirements, the needs of the service and the People We Support.
  • Work in close partnership with family members and other professionals involved in the individual’s life.
  • Undertake personal development to develop and understanding of our philosophy and values and how these inform and guide practice in the key responsibilities of the role.
  • Must stay awake throughout full duration of the shift.
