Job summary

Smart Solutions proudly supports the Armed Forces Covenant and is hiring a Cleaner for a busy waste and recycling facility in Scotland. The role covers cleaning the plant, work areas and welfare facilities, ensuring safe, tidy surroundings and compliance with safety procedures.

Typical duties include sweeping, mopping, waste separation, and reporting hazards. Shift is 07:00–15:00, Monday to Friday, with PPE provided and site inductions as part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain the plant, work areas, walkways and surrounding areas.
• Sweep, mop and remove dust, dirt, debris and waste from designated areas.
• Clean staff toilets, changing rooms, canteen, offices and welfare facilities.
• Empty bins and ensure waste is separated and disposed of correctly.
• Keep walkways, entrances and emergency exits clean and free from obstructions.
• Clean around conveyors, machinery and equipment when safe and authorised to do so.
• Assist with general site cleaning and housekeeping duties as required.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout the facility.
• Report spillages, leaks, damaged equipment and other hazards to the Supervisor.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to instructions.
• Ensure cleaning equipment is kept clean, safe and in good working condition.

Job description

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Cleaner to join a busy waste and recycling facility.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping across the plant, work areas, welfare facilities and surrounding site.

This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work and is comfortable working in an industrial or waste management environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• . Clean and maintain the plant, work areas, walkways and surrounding areas


• . Sweep, mop and remove dust, dirt, debris and waste from designated areas


• . Clean staff toilets, changing rooms, canteen, offices and welfare facilities


• . Empty bins and ensure waste is separated and disposed of correctly


• . Keep walkways, entrances and emergency exits clean and free from obstructions


• . Clean around conveyors, machinery and equipment when safe and authorised to do so


• . Clean up waste and materials that may fall or accumulate around the recycling process


• . Assist with general site cleaning and housekeeping duties as required


• . Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout the facility


• . Report spillages, leaks, damaged equipment and other hazards to the Supervisor


• . Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to instructions


• . Ensure cleaning equipment is kept clean, safe and in good working condition


• . Complete cleaning schedules and report any issues to the Supervisor


• . Follow all instructions from the Site Supervisor or Manager


• . Work safely around moving vehicles, forklifts and plant machinery


• . Follow all site health and safety, environmental and recycling procedures


• . Wear the required PPE at all times


• . Attend site inductions and required health and safety training


• . Report accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions immediately
