Job summary

Greenway Primary School in Horsham is seeking a caring SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our team for 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This fixed-term role runs until 31 August 2027 and supports children with special educational needs and disabilities to access learning.

You will work with teachers to deliver tailored activities, promote positive behaviour and independence, build strong relationships with pupils and families, and participate in training within our GLF Schools community.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at a minimum.
  • Ability to support learning activities, clarify instructions and engage children.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to plan, prioritise tasks and maintain records.
  • Good communication and confidentiality; patient and calm under pressure.
  • Experience with children with significant or complex needs is desirable.

Job description

Greenway Junior School is looking for a caring, enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our friendly team for 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This is a fixed-term position (funding-related) until 31 August 2027 and offers a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children with special educational needs and disabilities.

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will:Support children with special educational needs and disabilities to access learning and achieve their individual goals.Work closely with teachers to deliver engaging, personalised learning activities and interventions.Encourage positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and independence.Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils, parents, and external professionals.Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive school environment where every child can flourish.Benefit from ongoing training, support, and opportunities to develop your skills and experience within a collaborative team.This role would suit someone who is patient, compassionate, and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning. What we are looking for Good general education, including GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths. Ability to support learning activities, clarify instructions, and engage children effectively. Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise tasks, and maintain accurate records. Good communication skills, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Flexible, calm under pressure, and passionate about making a positive impact on children’s lives. Experience working with children with significant or complex needs is desireable.
