Job summary

Theatre Tavern in Great Yarmouth is seeking an experienced, reliable Assistant Manager to join our team. The role involves managing day-to-day operations of a busy pub, leading a team, and stepping in when the owner is not on site.

Key duties include booking live entertainment, organising staff rotas, supervising the bar team, stock control, and ensuring high standards of customer service, safety and licensing compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in pub/hospitality management.
• Hands-on leader able to run the pub in the owner/manager’s absence.
• Comfortable booking live entertainment and liaising with performers.

Location: Great Yarmouth Hours: Approximately 20–30 hours per week

Position: Assistant Manager Experience: Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a pub, bar, or hospitality management role

The Theatre Tavern is looking for an experienced, reliable and hands‑on Assistant Manager to join our

team.

We are looking for someone who understands the day-to-day running of a busy pub, is confident leading

a team, and can take responsibility when the owner/manager is not on site.

The Role

Booking and organising live entertainment, including liaising with bands, DJs and performers

Organising staff rotas and ensuring the pub is appropriately staffed

Supporting and supervising the bar team

Ordering cleaning products and supplies and ensuring the pub maintains high standards of

Changing beer kegs and gas and dealing with cellar/bar equipment

Assisting with stock control, deliveries and ordering

Helping monitor stock, wastage and overall pub standards

Opening and/or closing the premises when required

Maintaining high standards of customer service, responsible drinking and general safety

Dealing confidently with customer issues and difficult situations

Ensuring staff follow company procedures and licensing requirements

Being a hands‑on member of the team and leading by example

Supporting the owner/manager with the general running and development of the pub.
