Job summary

Sodexo Group at Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital is seeking a Weekend Chef to prepare high-quality meals, support patient wellbeing and enhance dining experiences. You’ll manage your own kitchen section in a fast-paced environment and work with a purpose-driven team.

Responsibilities include delivering a high-quality food service to patients and staff, following food safety standards, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting events when needed. NVQ2 and Food Safety certs preferred.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) and Food Safety certificates (level 3 desirable).
  • Experience preparing and cooking fresh food in catering, hospitality or healthcare.
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality and ability to follow instructions.

  • Prepare and serve fresh food in line with standards, safety requirements and budget.
  • Follow health & safety, food safety and safeguarding procedures at all times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation across kitchen and service areas.
  • Respond to customer feedback and take appropriate action.
  • Support stock security, minimise waste and report incidents.
  • Work flexibly to cover absences and assist with events when needed.

  • 16.5 hours per week
  • Saturday 7 am - 6 pm and Sunday 7 am - 1 pm
  • Additional holiday cover/overtime might be required

As a Weekend Chef with Sodexo at Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital you’ll play a vital role in preparing high-quality meals that support patient wellbeing and enhance the overall dining experience. What you’ll do:

  • Deliver a high-quality food service to patients, visitors and colleagues
  • Prepare and serve fresh food in line with company standards, food safety requirements and budget guidelines.
  • Follow all health & safety, food safety and safeguarding procedures at all times.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation across all kitchen and service areas.
  • Respond promptly to customer feedback, escalating concerns and taking appropriate action where required.
  • Support stock security, minimise waste and report any incidents, accidents or food safety concerns.
  • Work flexibly to support the team, including covering absences, attending training and assisting with special events when needed.

What you bring:

  • NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) and Food Safety certificates(level 3 desired)
  • Experience preparing and cooking fresh food in a catering, hospitality or healthcare environment.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent punctuality, attendance and time management skills.
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and efficiently.
  • A strong understanding of food hygiene, health & safety and safe working practices.
  • High standards of personal hygiene, cleanliness and attention to detail.
  • Experience completing food safety or HACCP documentation is desirable
