Children's Residential Support Worker (LD)

Have you ever wanted to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable Children and Young People? Our children’s home in Gatley, Stockport provides residential care for Children and Young People with learning disabilities and/or autism associated conditions.

You will be working in a caring home environment, nurturing, and supporting the young people we work with helping them to overcome the issues they are facing. You will work with the team and the Registered Manager to give the support that these Children and Young People deserve to help make life better for them.

Purpose of the role is for staff to support the individual with daily living, recreation, independence, personal care, communication and community access.

We are looking for a

Children’s Residential Care Worker who can complete the full range of tasks required.

Location Gatley, Stockport

Hours 37.5 hours per week, on a 7-day rota with 2 non-working days each week.

Salary £26,230 annual salary, £13.45ph

Weekends paid at time and a quarter (£16.82ph)

Sleep in rate £107.60per sleep shift (sleep in shifts being 11pm – 7am)

About the position….

  • As a

Children’s Residential Care Worker, you will work as part of a residential childcare team providing support for the children and young people with their physical, emotional, and social needs with an emphasis on promoting their personal growth and independence.

  • Working on your own initiative and as part of a team, you will be to preparing and assisting the children and young people to fulfil the aims of their person-centred plan.
  • You will support the children and young people with communication and work closely in a team that has a passion to improve their lives whilst in our care.
  • You will work flexibly to undertake the full range of duties in a well-planned way that respects and values the children and young people as individuals.
  • We provide compassionate, nurturing care for the children and young people who are in crisis and have complex needs, supporting them to move on from a difficult past to a brighter future.
  • The young people use a range of communication aids including verbal, pictures, now and next cards, schedules, choice boards, sign language.
  • There is an amount of admin of medication. Additional training is provided for all support requirements.

About you….

Do you have the skills we are looking for.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills. You’ll be expected to liaise with other staff, parents/carers, and professionals.
  • An ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, taking the lead when required, maintaining & encouraging open and honest communication.
  • You must have a good understanding of English and IT skills and be happy to complete all the paperwork and care plans to a good quality. Which includes daily recording on IT systems (Clearcare) and other records such as incident reports.
  • An enthusiastic, reliable and outgoing person with a level of maturity, skills and interests which can be utilised to engage the young people.

This service is regulated by Ofsted therefore all employees must be over the age of 22 years at the time of joining the service.

must be able to evidence that (1) they have the right to work in the UK without additional approval for more than 20 hours each week throughout the year and (2) they have an eligible residency status for the purposes of the apprenticeship funding rules. In most cases this will mean that the individual needs to show that they have been ''ordinarily resident'' in particular countries (including the UK) at least 3 years before the start of the apprenticeship.
