What the school offers its staff

Ferryhill School is an 11–16 secondary school in County Durham, proudly serving Ferryhill and the surrounding communities.

Serving a largely rural area, we are proud to be a school at the heart of our community, where strong relationships with our students, families and local partners really matter.

We are a hardworking, ambitious and caring school with high expectations for everyone. At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: we want the very best for our students.

Our vision, Best Selves, Bold Futures, represents the experience we want every young person to have at Ferryhill. We want our students to become the very best version of themselves, while developing the knowledge, confidence, character and ambition to look towards their futures with excitement and aspiration.

Our three core values of Integrity, Creativity and Excellence underpin school life. We believe in doing the right thing, encouraging curiosity and new ideas, and always striving to be the best that we can be. These values shape the way we work together as staff and the expectations we have for our students.

Relationships are incredibly important to us. We work hard to know our students and their families well, and we are proud of the excellent relationships we have with parents and carers. We recognise that young people thrive when home and school work together, and we value the trust, communication and partnership we have with our families.

We want our students to enjoy coming to school, to feel known and valued, and to be challenged to achieve their very best. We want them to experience opportunities that broaden their horizons, raise their aspirations and help them recognise what is possible.

Ferryhill is a school with a strong sense of community and an exciting future. We are ambitious for our students, ambitious for our staff and committed to continually developing what we offer.

Everything we do comes back to what matters most: our young people and giving them the education, experiences and opportunities they deserve.

Best Selves. Bold Futures.
