Job summary

Chipstead Valley Primary School in Coulsdon is looking for an enthusiastic Breakfast Club Assistant to join the Extended School provision. You will engage children aged 2–11 with fun, creative activities, supervise free play, and model positive behaviour while following school policies.

You will help provide a healthy breakfast across two sites, with shifts from 7:15 to 8:45, Monday to Friday. The post is permanent, part-time and term-time only, offering a competitive NJC-based salary and access

Qualifications

• Experience with caring for nursery and primary children is desirable.
• Ability to engage children with play-based activities and conversations.
• Paediatric First Aid qualification would be an advantage but not essential.

• Provide wraparound care before/after school for children aged 2–11.

Job description

Salary: £5,305 Hours: 7:15 – 8:45, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Part-time and Term time only. To commence: As soon as possible. Interviews commence from 12th October 2026.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Extended School provision team, providing wraparound care outside of school hours for our children. You will be engaging our children with fun and creative play based activities, whilst supervising their free play, modelling expected behaviour at all times and following school policies and procedures where challenging behaviour arises. You will also be providing a healthy breakfast, taking note of any dietary requirements of all children attending. Our Breakfast club is split between two locations, caring for Nursery and KS1 children, and KS2 children. The successful candidate will be required to work across both teams to ensure adequate staff cover is provided at all times.

The Ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in looking after nursery and primary school aged children from ages 2-11
• Previous experience working or volunteering in a primary school
• Proven experience engaging children in play based activities and conversations, with the ability to relate to children of all ages
• Level 2 or 3 childcare qualfications would be an advantage but are not essential
• Paediatric First Aid qualification would be an advantage but a willingness to undertake the qualification would be acceptable
