Job summary

Penderels Trust in Colchester is seeking a Female Personal Care Assistant for a school holiday vacancy. You will provide support with personal care, dressing and mobility, enabling safe participation in activities and fostering independence for a sociable young lady.

Experience with epilepsy and gastrostomy is preferred. The role requires 18+ and will involve DBS disclosure (costs covered). Shifts are during school holidays, with training provided and strict safeguarding in place.

Qualifications

• Experience with epilepsy and gastrostomy support.
• Must be aged 18+ and eligible to work in the UK.
• Ability to provide personal care and assist with mobility and daily living activities.

Responsibilities

• Support with toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Assist to access sporting and leisure activities.
• Encourage socialisation and participation in activities.
• Promote friendships and independence.
• Develop a good one-to-one working relationship.
• Support with gardening.
• Support with tube feeding and monitoring seizures and ketones/blood sugars.

About the Employer

Support required for a sociable, fun-loving young lady, highly active with no danger awareness. The PA would need experience with supporting people with epilepsy and gastrostomy. However, even with these difficulties, she loves life and is an adventurous and inquisitive young lady.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, getting dressed.
• Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
• Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
• Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
• Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
• Support with gardening.
• Support with tube feeding and monitoring seizures and ketones/blood sugars.

Only candidates aged 18 or over should apply for this position as you will be required to administer medication.

The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
