Job summary

The Horse & Guardsman in Whitehall is seeking a people-focused General Manager to lead a high-volume, food-led London pub in the heart of the West End. You will drive guest experience, sales and standards across FOH and BOH, while building a strong team and delivering memorable pub experiences near Trafalgar Square and Downing Street.

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to maximise trading opportunities in a busy central London site.

Qualifications

We are now recruiting for a people focused Manager to run the

Horse & Guardsman in Whitehall

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to become General Manager of The Horse & Guardsman, Whitehall. Now established for five years, the pub has built a strong reputation in one of London’s most iconic locations, just a stone’s throw from Trafalgar Square, The Mall and Downing Street. The site includes a large ground floor trading space with entrances on both Whitehall and The Mall, along with two mezzanine levels, all beautifully presented as a traditional London pub with real character and presence.

It has a relaxed atmosphere bursting with character with a range of contemporary and traditional cocktails with the freshest ingredients, serves bespoke seasonal dishes, and boasts an attentive bar service. It is in the heart of the West End and is a truly quintessentially British pub experience.

The pub attracts a wide range of guests thanks to its outstanding central London location, including tourists, Whitehall workers, theatre and West End visitors, corporate guests and organised tour groups. With London trading strongly again and demand for memorable British pub experiences continuing to grow, there is a clear opportunity to build on the pub’s established reputation, drive sales further and deliver consistently excellent standards for both guests and team.

The ideal General Manager candidate will have proven experience running a high-volume, food-led pub or hospitality business, with the confidence to lead a busy London site and maximise every trading opportunity. Experience of tourist, corporate and event-led trade would be a strong advantage.

Management Profile

The Horse & Guardsman will require a real leader. Driven, guest focused and confident. You’ll need to understand people (team and guests) and their needs. Our pubs are driven by personalities, you’ll need the personality to stand out and become popular with the locals. A creative streak and eye for detail are important so that the site stands out visually against the competition.

Owing to the unique nature of this business we are looking for a high performing manager who will operate a business that delivers our key KPI’s

• Sales growth and profit exceeding budget
