Job summary

The Census Test roles are field-based positions located in Cardiff, inviting residents to participate in the Test Census questionnaire. You will visit addresses, explain the importance of taking part, and guide households to support as needed.

Starting in March 2027 for about five weeks, the role offers flexible hours totaling roughly 25 per week and training from day one to build confidence in planning, safety, and communicating with diverse people while using mobile tools to record visits.

About the Roles

As a Household Officer (Census Test), you'll work in Cardiff, visiting selected households and encouraging residents to complete their Test Census questionnaire.

Your responsibilities will include:

This is a field-based role, and travel throughout your allocated area will be required. You will be paid an hourly rate plus expenses in line with ONS’ travel policy.

You will begin with a comprehensive one-week training programme designed to give you everything you need to succeed.

Contract and Working Pattern

Evening and Weekend Availability: At least 60% of working hours are expected to be during evenings and weekends
