Job summary

Meridian Business Support LtdRecruitment is seeking a Mobile Gas Service Engineer to cover the Midlands (Birmingham, Coventry area) with travel and overnight stays 2–4 nights a week. You will service and warranty Gas, Electric and Solid Fuel heating appliances and work from a provided van with upfront lodging paid.

Role requires safety certifications and field servicing experience. Salary is £37,850 base with overtime; benefits include a fully equipped van, laptop, mobile, and pension.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of working with heating appliances or servicing comparable equipment in the field.
• CCN1 (Domestic Core Gas Safety), HTR1 (Gas Fires & Wall Heaters), CONGLP1 (LPG Changeover).
• GAS SAFE requirements (OFTEC also an advantage) OR RGI/II.
• Part P Electrical Safety and HETAS Certification are advantageous.
• Valid, clean UK driving licence. Knowledge of software including email and Word is a plus.

Responsibilities

• To ensure all service and warranty calls are carried out professionally, timely and accurately on first visit.
• Identify issue root cause and determine if fault is manufacturing/installation, charging on site as needed.
• Ensure user safety in accordance with regulations for installation and use.
• Issue safety notices if required and complete paperwork after each visit.
• Record all tests and faults on laptop/iPad and upload to company database.

Job description

Are you somebody who loves variety in your workload, and can travel throughout a geographical area, covering the Midlands (to include areas such as Birmingham and Coventry)? You will be servicing and maintaining a broad range of heating products including Gas, Electric and Solid fuel domestic heating appliances? As a mobile Gas Service Engineer you will need to be happy to sometimes stay away from home for 2-4 nights per week. Your primary responsibility will be the completion of warranty and annual service work for Gas, Electric and Solid Fuel heating appliances. There’s no messy installation work, and you get paid every day for the work you do: it’s a full time, permanent job, with benefits and no self employed admin headache! You’ll be provided with a fully equipped van and all of your overnight accommodation will be paid for up front.

Job Responsibilities

• To ensure all service and warranty calls are carried out in a professional, timely and accurate manner, ensuring that the issues are properly and fully resolved during the first visit.
• To correctly identify the reason for the reported issue and determine whether that issue falls within a company manufacturing fault or an installation/user fault, which will then be charged on site to the customer.
• To ensure the end user’s safety in accordance with all the relevant regulations for installation and use.
• To issue any safety notices if required and to inform the relevant personnel and complete the company’s required paperwork after each client visit.
• The service engineer is responsible for recording all of the tests and work carried out as well as the faults found. This recording will need to be completed on the laptop/iPad and uploaded regularly to the company’s database.

Required Skills and Certifications

• Proven experience of working with heating appliances or servicing comparable equipment in the field.
• CCN1 (Domestic Core Gas Safety), HTR1 (Gas Fires & Wall Heaters), CONGLP1 (LPG Changeover)
• CPA1 – Combustion Analysis
• GAS SAFE requirements (OFTEC also an advantage) OR RGI/II
• The following qualifications whilst not essential, would be an advantage:
  • Part P Electrical Safety
  • HETAS Certification
  • Valid, clean UK driving licence
  • Knowledge of software programmes including email and Word.

Associated Benefits

Basic salary of £37850 plus overtime, expenses, fully equipped van, mobile and laptop.
