Job summary

Meridian Business Support Ltd is seeking a Gas Service Engineer to cover the Midlands region, with travel to Birmingham and Coventry areas. You will service and maintain gas, electric and solid fuel heating appliances, sometimes staying away 2–4 nights per week.

The role is full-time with a fully equipped van provided, plus paid accommodation in advance. Main duties include ensuring first-visit problem resolution, safety compliance, and on-site documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing heating appliances in the field.
• Certifications listed in the qualifications section.
• Clean, valid UK driving licence adds advantage.

Responsibilities

• Carry out service and warranty calls professionally, efficiently and on first visit.
• Identify causes and classify as manufacturer fault or installation fault, charging on site.
• Ensure user safety per installation/use regulations and issue notices when required.
• Complete paperwork and inform relevant personnel after each visit.
• Record tests and work on a laptop/iPad and upload to the company database.

Job description

Gas Service Engineer

Are you somebody who loves variety in your workload, and can travel throughout a geographical area, covering the Midlands (to include areas such as Birmingham and Coventry)? You will be servicing and maintaining abroad range of heating products including Gas, Electric and Solid fuel domestic heating appliances? As a mobile Gas Service Engineer you will need to be happy to sometimes stay away from home for 2-4 nights per week. Your primary responsibility will be the completion of warranty and annual service work for Gas, Electric and Solid Fuel heating appliances. There's no messy installation work, and you get paid every day for the work you do: it's a full time, permanent job, with benefits and no self employed admin headache! You'll be provided with a fully equipped van and all of your overnight accommodation will be paid for up front.

Job Responsibilities

• To ensure all service and warranty calls are carried out in a professional, timely and accurate manner, ensuring that the issues are properly and fully resolved during the first visit.
• To correctly identify the reason for the reported issue and determine whether that issue falls within a company manufacturing fault or an installation/user fault, which will then be charged on site to the customer.
• To ensure the end user's safety in accordance with all the relevant regulations for installation and use.
• To issue any safety notices if required and to inform the relevant personnel and complete the company's required paperwork after each client visit.
• The service engineer is responsible for recording all the tests and work carried out as well as the faults found. This recording will need to be completed on the laptop/iPad and upload regularly to the company's database.

Required Skills and Certifications

• Proven experience of working with heating appliances or servicing comparable equipment in the field.
• CCN1 (Domestic Core Gas Safety), HTR1 (Gas Fires & Wall Heaters), CONGLP1 (LPG Changeover)
• CPA1 - Combustion Analysis
• GAS SAFE requirements (OFTEC also an advantage) OR RGI/II
• Part P Electrical Safety (not essential, but an advantage)
• HETAS Certification (not essential, but an advantage)
• Valid, clean UK driving licence (not essential, but an advantage)
• Knowledge of software programmes including email and Word.(not essential, but an advantage)
