Job summary

Mencap in Southport is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our teams. The role is based in Southport, with shifts across weekdays, weekends and bank holidays, including mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep ins.

The successful candidate will help people to live independently, manage budgets, pay bills, and participate in community activities while providing personal care as required. A manual driving licence is preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in supporting people to live independently.
• Ability to assist with budgeting and paying bills.
• Experience with daily living tasks and meal preparation.

Support Worker

We are looking for an enthusiastic Support Worker to join the fantastic teams based in Southport. We have 1 x 25 hour position available.

Manual drivers licence preferred but not essential.

Working time will be on a rota basis with shifts spread across the weekdays, weekends and bank holidays including mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep ins.

The shift timings are:

• 10am - 10pm & 8am - 10pm
• Sleep in - 10pm - 7am

What does a Support Worker do?

• Supporting people to live independently – budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.
• Excellent communication skills and Relationship building – supporting the people we support to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.
• Community & Social Inclusion – supporting individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote life skills and individuality.
• Personal care – helping people to get ready for the day. This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom. Not all Support Worker roles include high levels of personal care.
