Job summary

Randstad CPE is recruiting a Night Site Manager / SMSTS Supervisor for a major highway and civils package near Chicklade, operating on night shifts.

You will act as the Principal Contractor's on-site representative during night operations, enforcing site safety, RAMS and traffic management standards, coordinating subcontractors across civils, highways and utilities, and managing briefings, handovers and incident response.

Qualifications

• SMSTS required.
• Valid CSCS Card required.
• First Aid at Work essential.
• Solid knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations from a Principal Contractor perspective.
• Experience managing civil/highways/utility schemes is essential.

Responsibilities

• Act as the client's / Principal Contractor's primary manager on site throughout night operations.

About the Role

We are currently recruiting a

Night Site Manager / SMSTS Supervisor on behalf of a leading main contractor to act as the Principal Contractor's key on-site representative during a targeted package of highway and utility works near Chicklade.

Our client is delivering a major construction scheme requiring high-profile night-time operations on and around the A303. This role involves managing site safety, monitoring subcontractor delivery (covering civils, highways, and utility power crossings), and upholding CDM Principal Contractor standards while night works are live.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the client's / Principal Contractor's primary manager on site throughout night operations.
• Enforce site safety compliance, RAMS, and traffic management standards.
• Coordinate on-site activities between specialist highways and utility sub-contractors.
• Manage shift start/end briefings, site handovers, and emergency response procedures if required.
• Maintain accurate shift logs and report back to the senior project management team.

Candidate Requirements

• SMSTS,
• Valid CSCS Card, and
• First Aid at Work (Essential).
• Proven background managing civil engineering, highways, or utility schemes.
• Solid knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations from a Principal Contractor perspective.
• Strong, assertive supervisory presence to oversee third‑party contractors independently overnight.
• Full commitment and availability for night shifts covering the 9th October - 18th October window.
