Job summary

Serco Limited in Amersham is hiring an Estates Supervisor to lead a multidisciplinary maintenance team across the hospital estate, ensuring safety, compliance and operational excellence to support patient care.

You will oversee mechanical, electrical and building fabric maintenance, manage performance and develop staff, and drive continuous improvement within a healthcare facilities context.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognised apprenticeship, Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Significant experience in a supervisory role within estates, facilities management or building services maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and people management skills.

  • Lead and supervise mechanical, electrical and building fabric maintenance activities across the hospital estate.
  • Manage and develop a team of directly employed colleagues, including performance management, training, welfare and development.
  • Ensure planned preventative maintenance and reactive works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual, statutory and healthcare requirements.
  • Oversee permit‑to‑work processes, risk management activities and compliance audits.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records within the CAFM system to support performance reporting and compliance.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, contractors and internal teams to deliver operational excellence and continuous improvement.

What you’ll do as an Estates Supervisor

- Lead and supervise mechanical, electrical and building fabric maintenance activities across the hospital estate.

- Manage and develop a team of directly employed colleagues, including performance management, training, welfare and development.

- Ensure planned preventative maintenance and reactive works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual, statutory and healthcare requirements.

- Oversee permit‑to‑work processes, risk management activities and compliance audits.

- Monitor and maintain accurate records within the Computer‑Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) system to support performance reporting and compliance.

- Build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, contractors and internal teams to deliver operational excellence and continuous improvement.
