Job summary

Serco Limited in Amersham is seeking an Estates Supervisor to lead a multidisciplinary estates maintenance team across the hospital estate. You will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring safety, compliance and reliable facilities for patient care.

This role requires experience in estates or building services, a technical qualification, and strong leadership and communication skills. The position is full-time with on-site duties and a rota that may include some weekends and on-call

Qualifications

  • Recognised apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Significant supervisory experience in estates, facilities management or building services.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services and health and safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and people management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise mechanical, electrical and building fabric maintenance activities across the hospital estate.
  • Manage and develop a team of directly employed colleagues, including performance management, training, welfare and development.
  • Ensure planned preventative maintenance and reactive works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual, statutory and healthcare requirements.
  • Oversee permit-to-work processes, risk management activities and compliance audits.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records within the CAFM system to support performance reporting and compliance.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, contractors and internal teams to deliver operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hours per week, predominantly Mon-Fri between 08:00 and 17:00. Some weekend, evening, night work and participation in an on-call rota will be required)

As an Estates Supervisor in our Health team, you'll lead and support a multidisciplinary estates maintenance team, helping to ensure critical hospital infrastructure remains safe, compliant and fully operational. Your work will directly support patient care by maintaining the environments, systems and equipment healthcare professionals rely on every day.

This is a role with real purpose. You'll oversee planned preventative maintenance and reactive works across hospital facilities, driving high standards of safety, compliance and service delivery. What you'll do as an Estates Supervisor
  • Lead and supervise mechanical, electrical and building fabric maintenance activities across the hospital estate.

  • Build strong relationships with customers, stakeholders, contractors and internal teams to deliver operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Does this sound like you?
  • Completion of a recognised apprenticeship, Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Significant experience in a supervisory role within estates, facilities management or building services maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical building services and relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and people management skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office applications and maintenance management systems.

Vetting and checks

A Standard DBS check will be carried out for this position. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and warnings as permitted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.
