Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial, engineering, construction, energy, defence or nuclear environments.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Experience using PPE and safety equipment.

• Hands-on practical approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Undertake decommissioning, dismantling and operational activities as per procedures.
• Support decontamination activities on plant and facilities.
• Assist with waste management, segregation and disposal.
• Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Carry out routine inspections, housekeeping and site maintenance.
• Support lifting operations and material handling as required.
• Adhere to health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Collaborate with supervisors to deliver project objectives.

The Opportunity

Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Operative to join a specialist engineering and project delivery organisation operating within highly regulated sectors. This position offers the chance to work on complex decommissioning and operational programmes, supporting the safe dismantling, waste management and maintenance of critical facilities. You'll join an experienced team where safety, training and personal development are at the forefront of everything they do.

Your duties and responsibilities

• Undertake decommissioning, dismantling and operational activities in accordance with approved procedures.
• Support decontamination activities on plant, equipment and facilities.
• Assist with waste management, segregation and disposal activities.
• Operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Carry out routine inspections, housekeeping and site maintenance activities.
• Support lifting operations and material handling activities where required.
• Adhere to all health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and site teams to safely deliver project objectives.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation where required.
• Participate in training programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.

You will have the following qualifications & experience

• Previous experience working within industrial, engineering, construction, energy, defence or nuclear environments.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Experience using PPE and safety equipment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills.
• Practical, hands‑on approach to work.
• Ability to follow written instructions and procedures.
• Flexible attitude and willingness to undertake further training.

It’s great if you also have the following

• Previous decommissioning experience.
• Experience of working within a regulated environment.
• Lifting and slinging experience.
• Radiological awareness training.
• CSCS, CPCS, NPORS, PASMA or IPAF certification.
• Engineering, mechanical or construction background.
• Relevant vocational qualifications.
• Security clearance or previous experience working on secure sites.
