Job summary

Aquis Exchange PLC is seeking a Mid-Level RAD Engineer to join the Rapid Application Development team in London. You will investigate production issues, prototype new trading technology, and build internal tools and test frameworks to keep the exchange running smoothly.

You will work across Product, Infrastructure, QA, and Operations, applying CS fundamentals, writing well-tested code, and learning the trading platform architecture to prevent failures and improve performance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years professional C++ development experience (C++11 or later).
• Comfortable with core networking concepts: TCP, UDP, multicast.
• Linux experience: navigate Linux, debugging tools, memory, processes.
• Python, Git, and SQL: scripting, version control, data queries.
• Kanban and CI/CD: Jira, continuous integration, rapid iteration.
• Writing well-tested code and creating reproducible environments.
• Analytical mindset for breaking down complex systems.
• Genuine interest in trading technology and markets.
• Team player mentality and proactive collaboration.
• Comfortable using AI tools in development (LLMs, coding assistants).

Responsibilities

• Investigate production issues and platform behaviour: diagnose problems with guidance, create reproducible test cases, document findings.
• Support rapid prototyping efforts: implement features in POC code, write clean code under time pressure, gather feedback.
• Build tools and utilities for internal teams: develop test utilities, diagnostic scripts, monitoring tools.
• Code, test, integrate, and document software: write high-quality code, participate in code review, maintain docs.
• Learn the platform and systems architecture: understand market data, matching, and trading workflows.
• Apply computer science fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, networking, systems design.
• Escalate appropriately and ask for guidance: work independently, know when to involve seniors.
