Job Title: RAD Developer

Location: London

Department: Front Office - RAD Technology

Type: Permanent

The front office RAD technology team is responsible for maintaining and building trading desk tools, both bespoke to pods and general to a desk. The team sits within the Front office technology group which also contains Quant Research and the Risk and Data Technology teams.

Role Overview

The primary focus of this role is to work closely with traders and meet any of their RAD tool requirements. Requirements vary from small risk reports using data outputted from core systems to large trading workflow and risk systems, scenario tools, etc. Any technology can be used to fulfil these requirements, but a pragmatic approach is required at all times. Key factors include time to market, fit for purpose, and code reusability. Traders prefer Excel front ends, so the solution generally involves Excel front ends underpinned by C# library functions, Mongo and SQL Server databases. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with front office experience to further grow exposure to cross‑asset products and deliver a solution whose benefits are highly visible and desired by business sponsors.

Experience Required

• At least 4 years working in the Finance and Technology arenas; ideally in front‑office development.
• Proficiency in C#, Excel, VBA, and SQL.
• Demonstrated knowledge of financial instruments such as fixed income or derivatives.
• Familiarity with Python would be advantageous, as would broader financial knowledge in FX, commodities, equity.

Candidate Overview

In this role you must be self‑motivated and able to engage with senior business users on trading and risk desks. You should gather requirements, design pragmatic solutions, and implement them through to release. This highly technical role requires a solid understanding of object‑oriented design and the ability to build reusable library functions within a code quant library framework. You must be comfortable with the full software development lifecycle and demonstrate adherence to best practices. Delivery is key, balancing rapid BAU change with longer‑term strategic development.
