Job summary

Northumberland National Park Authority is recruiting a Ranger – Northern Area to join our Park Management team. You will help look after Rothbury and the wider Northumberland National Park, welcoming visitors, monitoring paths, supporting conservation projects and delivering engaging educational activities.

You should have countryside management experience or training, a good knowledge of conservation and public rights of way, and be ready to supervise volunteers.

Qualifications

• Experience or training in countryside management or ranger-related role.
• Good understanding of conservation and rural land management.
• Knowledge of countryside recreation and public rights of way.
• Willing to supervise volunteers or community groups.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weathers.
• Flexible to work weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming and engaging with visitors, providing information and guidance to help them make the most of the National Park.
• Monitoring, maintaining and improving public rights of way, access routes and recreational facilities.
• Supporting conservation, biodiversity and sustainable land management projects.
• Working with schools, community groups, volunteers and trainees to deliver educational and engagement activities, including guided walks.
• Building positive relationships with local communities, landowners, partners and stakeholders.
• Carrying out practical countryside maintenance, including repairs and improvements to gates, stiles, signage and waymarking.
• Supporting projects that contribute to the National Park's conservation, access and environmental objectives.
