Job summary

Hitachi Rail GTS UK Limited in London is seeking a Radio Technician to join the Field Support team. You will install, test, and commission radio infrastructure including base stations, antennas, and RF systems for railway projects.

You will work nights, ensuring safety and compliance with standards while supporting fault-finding, maintenance, and integration with legacy systems. A technical background in electrical/telecoms is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience installing and commissioning radio base stations and antennas.
• Strong knowledge of TETRA radio control and Airwave systems.
• Ability to work safely on a live railway network and interpret designs.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission radio infrastructure including base stations, antennas, and RF components.
• Test and verify cable losses, return losses, and system performance to standards.
• Support fault-finding and maintenance across railway telecommunications projects.
• Coordinate with other engineers during installation, commissioning, and handover.
• Summarise test results to professional documentation standards.
