Northern is seeking a Training Analyst to bridge data analysis with operational planning in a hybrid role across Leeds, York, and Manchester. You will own training requirements, shape plans for traincrew, and work with unions to reflect agreements in project plans, helping forecast needs and improve resource use.

The role emphasizes data-led decision making, strong communication, and active collaboration with multiple teams to turn information into actionable training outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience using data to identify trends and support business decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across levels and teams.
• Experience in managing projects or workstreams and keeping them on track.
• Ability to share knowledge and best practices to build data confidence.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage training requirements across depots and identify risks and capacity pressures.
• Shape training plans and briefing materials for traincrew in collaboration with managers.
• Act as a link between project teams and operational teams to ensure training needs are included in plans.
• Work with trade unions on training agreements reflected in project planning.
• Compile regional training data to forecast future needs and support business decisions.
• Develop tools and reports to help teams understand training positions and plan effectively.
• Maintain training records and highlight gaps, risks, and opportunities affecting delivery.
• Support local teams to optimize resource use and training models.
