Job summary

Network Rail is seeking an exceptional Programme Engineering Manager (Track) to lead the Track engineering and project development within the Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE). You will ensure governance, regulatory compliance, and high-quality standards across the programme.

You will oversee the engineering team, budgets, and delivery of safety, quality, and environmental objectives, shaping the future of rail infrastructure in CP7 and beyond.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with extensive programme management experience in railway projects.
• Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• Membership in a professional institution.
• Expertise in railway engineering systems and implementation.
• Experience leading Track Engineering activities in design/construction.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering team structure, ensuring delivery of schedules, budgets and quality.
• Identify and manage the introduction of new systems with safety approvals and documentation.
• Drive safety, quality and environmental approvals while developing staff competence.
• Oversee the engineering budget and support programme budget development.
• Manage engineering activities to ensure projects are affordable, safe and environmentally responsible.
