Job summary

Mott MacDonald is offering a 2027 UK Degree Apprenticeship in Rail Systems Engineering in Manchester. The programme combines paid work with block-release university study, enrolling on a Rail Systems Engineering degree at LSBU or Sheffield Hallam.

You will join a collaborative Rail Track team, gaining hands-on experience on real projects while developing technical and professional skills through structured assessments and a strengths-based interview process.

Qualifications

• A-levels or equivalent required for degree apprenticeship.
• Enrolment onto Rail Systems Engineering BEng at LSBU or Sheffield Hallam.
• Block release study with paid apprenticeship.
• Single-stage strengths-based interview.

Responsibilities

• Support engineers from day one while developing technical know-how.
• Assist track alignment design and route identification.
• Assist infrastructure inspections and site surveys.
• Develop BIM models and CAD drawings.
• Prepare engineering reports and calculations.
• Learn through hands-on project work across UK/international rail assignments.
