Job summary

RailwayPeople is seeking an experienced Sub Agent or Section Engineer to join a growing rail civils team in Essex. The role blends site management with technical engineering, design assurance and programming duties, supporting a Greater Anglia scheme at a station site.

You will predominantly work from a station in Essex, with travel to other sites as required. The package includes a salary up to £55,000 plus a car allowance or company car, fuel card, and generous annual leave with private

Qualifications

• Experience as Sub Agent, Section Engineer, or similar engineering role.
• Railway civil works delivery experience, ideally station projects.
• Previous rail experience essential.
• Valid PTS certification and CSCS card.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Experience with design assurance processes.
• Experience planning and programming construction works.
• Strong IT and computer skills.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and site activities.
• Experience with Tier 1 contractors desirable (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day management and delivery of rail civils projects.
• Support planning and programming of works.
• Coordinate subcontractors and site activities.
• Oversee general civils, drainage, and station improvement works.
• Support design assurance processes.
• Review construction drawings, specs, and technical information.
• Monitor progress against programme and manage risks.
• Maintain project documentation and progress updates.
