Job summary

Heavy Haul Rail is seeking a highly organised Roster Clerk in Swindon to plan and deploy train crews and operational staff safety and efficiently. You will work with Control, depot teams and operations to maintain rosters compliant with fatigue management and workforce agreements.

Key tasks include producing base and weekly rosters, issuing daily alteration sheets, and ensuring staff are trained and compliant.

Qualifications

• Experience in rostering, planning or operational resource allocation.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Sound IT skills, including MS Office and operational systems.

Responsibilities

• Produce efficient base rosters and weekly rosters to support operational requirements.
• Prepare and issue daily alteration sheets for allocated depots.
• Ensure only trained, competent and compliant employees are rostered to duties.
• Manage annualised hours and support contractual obligations.
• Coordinate annual leave rosters for drivers and ground staff.
• Update rosters in response to timetable changes and operational requirements.
• Maintain accurate records using rostering, competency and industry systems.
• Liaise with Control and operational teams to ensure train coverage is maintained.
• Monitor fatigue-related alerts and take appropriate action.
• Reconcile roster changes to ensure worked hours are recorded.
• Arrange accommodation, hire vehicles and medical appointments as required.
• Provide cover across rostering function when needed.
