Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a maintenance technician to service and repair On Track Maintenance Vehicles (OTMs) from our Rail Plant Depot in Colchester. You will ensure fleet reliability and contribute to continuous improvement, with a focus on safety and regulatory standards.

Role requires experience with mechanical maintenance on vehicles, NVQ L3 in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent, and ability to meet deadlines. PTS/DP and flexibility with shifts are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Ideally completed an apprenticeship
• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience maintaining mechanical maintenance on vehicles
• PTS and DP as required

Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance on OTM fleet to keep reliability high
• Promote a safe culture and report unsafe acts or equipment
• Ensure spare parts are available and document faults or repairs
• Carry out fault finding and repairs to right first time
• Maintain OTMs to required standards and timescales
• Be flexible with LEAN practices and new working methods
