Job summary

Rullion Managed Services is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Manchester to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on Class 185 train units. This role is crucial for meeting production schedules and enhancing the future of transport.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 2, with a solid background in mechanical fault-finding and repairs.

This contract position offers £16.40 per hour and requires candidates to ideally live within 1 hour of the depot.

Qualifications

• Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical experience / NVQ Level 2 Equivalent.
• Background in mechanical fault-finding and repairs on heavy rolling stock, vehicles, or machinery.
• Competency in using laptops for diagnostic testing and mechanical diagnostics.

Your Role and Impact

• Perform mechanical maintenance and repair on Class 185 train units to meet production schedules
• Conduct mechanical fault diagnosis, including fault downloads and basic troubleshooting
• Operate depot driving within site limits
• Source, order, and retrieve necessary spares and materials
• Support with rolling stock cleaning and upkeep
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities and share best practices with peers

What You Bring

• Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent mechanical experience / NVQ Level 2 Equivalent
• Background in mechanical fault-finding and repairs (on heavy rolling stock, vehicles, or machinery)
• Competency in using laptops for diagnostic testing and mechanical diagnostics
• Experience with documenting maintenance activities and following technical procedures
• Understanding of tools, PPE care, H&S, biohazards, manual handling, and COSHH
• Ability to interpret engineering and maintenance manuals
