Job summary

Rullion Managed Services in Derby is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join the rail depot team on a 6-12 month contract, paying £29 per hour Umbrella, starting ASAP. The role covers scheduled maintenance, servicing, and driving duties within depot boundaries, with a 4 days on, 4 days off pattern including day and night shifts, and travel when required.

Qualifications

  • Served apprenticeship with mechanical/engineering disciplines.
  • Engineering NVQ level 3.
  • Network Rail Sentinel PTS.
  • Experience in 24/7 shift roster in a rolling stock depot.
  • Outstanding safety awareness in railway engineering.
  • Experience at stabling outstations or main line station support.
  • Modern fault finding using PC-based laptops and remote diagnostics.
  • Experience with MMS and trend analysis.
  • Modifications and campaigns on rolling stock.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Scheduled Maintenance activities on rolling stock per maintenance instructions.
  • Undertake servicing and preparation of rolling stock.
  • Undertake driving duties within depot boundaries per procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of maintenance processes.
  • Support delivery of new trains and maintenance acceptance.
  • Ensure timely completion of exam tasks and basic fault rectification.
  • Adhere to health and safety processes.
  • Attend testing locations and depots for preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Travel and overnight away from base as required.
  • Support team leaders and managers in delivering production plan.
  • Record all work activities and stock usage in the maintenance system.
  • Work rotating shifts to meet service requirements.
  • Assist with other responsibilities as required.

Education

Served apprenticeship with mechanical, engineering disciplines.
Engineering based NVQ level 3.

Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Derby
Salary: 29 per hour (Umbrella)

Start: ASAP
Employment Type: 6-12 Months

Working Pattern: 4 days on, 4 days off, consisting of two blocks of day shifts followed by two blocks of night shifts - Day Shifts: 7:30am - 6:30pm/Night Shifts: 7:15pm - 7:00am

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform Scheduled Maintenance activities on the rolling stock in accordance with the vehicle maintenance instructions.
  • Undertake servicing and preparation of the rolling stock.
  • Undertake driving duties within depot confines in accordance with the depot operating procedures and instructions.
  • Actively participate in the ongoing continuous improvement activities for maintenance processes and maintenance procedures that support all depot and fleet activities.
  • Support the delivery of new trains and undertake the maintenance acceptance processes.
  • Ensure exam tasks are being completed in a timely manner, undertake basic fault rectification or repair when required.
  • Adherence to all health and safety processes and procedures.
  • Attendance at testing locations, main line station and outstations to undertake preventative and corrective maintenance as required.
  • Must be prepared to travel and overnight away from base location for short periods of time.
  • Support the Maintenance Team Leaders and Shift Production Managers in the delivery of the production plan.
  • Record all work activities and stock consumption using the maintenance management system in accordance with maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Working shifts to meet the service requirements of fleet customers.
  • Assist as required with any other responsibilities relevant to the role based on localised requirement.
Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
Licences / Competences
  • Network Rail Sentinel PTS.
  • Manual Handling, COSHH, working at height, Powered plant, and tools.
  • Experience of working a 24/7 shift roster in a modern rolling stock maintenance depot environment.
  • Outstanding Safety Awareness gained in an operational railway engineering environment.
  • Experience of working at stabling outstations or main line station technical support.
  • Modern fault finding and repair techniques using pc-based laptops and remote train diagnostics.
  • Extensive experience of modern maintenance management systems (MMS) and associated reliability and available trend analysis.
  • Experience of performing modifications and campaigns on modern rolling stock.
Qualifications
  • Served apprenticeship with mechanical, engineering disciplines.
  • Engineering based NVQ level 3.

  • Working at Height, COSHH, Manual handling, AC/DC Depot isolation
