Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Manchester is hiring a Maintenance Technician to support the Class 185 Fleet at Ardwick traincare facility. You will perform routine maintenance and repairs on rolling stock and assist with fault diagnostics, with full training provided.

This permanent role offers 12-hour shifts (days and nights), a requirement to be within 1 hour of the depot, and opportunities to share best practice and develop technical skills within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• Rolling stock experience preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
• Experience documenting actions and operations to procedures.
• Good knowledge of tools, equipment and PPE.
• Health & Safety knowledge including COSHH.
• Ability to use a laptop for diagnostics and rectification.
• Ability to interpret technical publications.
• Flexibility to accommodate shift patterns.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking routine maintenance and repair of the allocated rolling stock to meet the requirements of the production plan.
• Carrying out download diagnosis and fault-finding to a basic level.
• Assisting other team members with the development of technical skills.
• Depot driving - Moving allocated rolling stock within the depot limits.
• Identifying, ordering, and collecting spares and materials from stores.
• Assisting with cleaning of rolling stock when required.
• Actively identifying continuous improvement opportunities within own activities that will benefit customers and the business.
• Actively participating in sharing best practice with colleagues and other teams on own site and other sites.
