Job summary

WSP seeks an Assistant Human Factors Consultant to contribute to a range of rail and wider transport projects. You will work within multidisciplinary teams to understand client objectives, identify human performance risks, and contribute to practical, human-centered solutions across design, assurance, and implementation.

You will build your Human Factors expertise, engaging with clients and stakeholders while progressing to take greater responsibility for work packages under senior guidance.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or master’s degree in Human Factors/Ergonomics, Psychology, Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Genuine interest in understanding and optimising human performance within complex systems.
• Experience in ergonomics, human-system interaction, safety or user-centred design.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and delivery of Human Factors Integration plans and activities.
• Contribute to progressive assurance activities and the preparation of supporting evidence.
• Identify and manage Human Factors issues, risks and design requirements.
• Apply industry standards and Human Factors good practice.
• Deliver Human Factors assessments and methodologies (e.g., task analysis, HMI evaluation).
• Produce high-quality technical reports and deliverables.
• Engage with workshops, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
