Job summary

DB Cargo UK is recruiting a Rail Freight Supervisor to join our groundstaff team at the Hinksey area. You will supervise drivers, mobile operatives and terminal staff, plan depot operations, and ensure trains depart safely and efficiently.

The role requires strong people management, forward planning, and problem solving within a safety-critical environment. You will work with the Operations Manager on shift planning, rostering, and ensuring correct PPE and site compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing staff, planning and problem solving.
• Ability to work in a safety-critical rail environment.
• Willingness to learn in a classroom-based training program (5 weeks).

Responsibilities

• Oversee drivers, mobile operatives and terminal staff to ensure trains depart safely and on time.
• Plan site operations with Operations Manager and rostering teams.
• Liaise with engineering teams to report defects and ensure safety checks are completed.
• Act as PIC at the depot and ensure visitors comply with PPE and rules.
• Travel occasionally to other DB Cargo UK sites.
• Maintain safe working practices across shifts.
