Job summary

VolkerRail Major Projects is seeking an Environmental Advisor to join the TRU East Alliance in Leeds. You will support design, planning and construction teams, drive environmental management, and report on performance against targets.

The role involves collaboration with diverse teams and subcontractors across multiple sites. You will possess an environment/science degree, potentially be a PISEP member, and have experience in the rail/construction sector.

Qualifications

• Environment or science degree or equivalent is required.
• PISEP membership or working towards it is desirable.
• Post-qualification experience in a similar role, preferably in construction/rail.
• Solid knowledge of ISO14001 management systems.
• Understanding of UK environmental legislation and consents/authorisations.
• Ability to produce clear environmental management plans and documentation.
• Experience with environmental site inspections/audits and reporting.
• Strong organisational and communication skills; driving licence held.

Responsibilities

• Identify site environmental risks and controls across major works.
• Develop and maintain environmental and social management plans.
• Support TRU Sustainability targets and related KPIs.
• Collect and report environmental performance data (EPIs).
• Provide guidance on waste, pollution control, noise and ecology.
• Liaise with internal/external stakeholders to discharge requirements.
• Ensure compliance with management systems and regulations.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits and assurance activities.
