Job summary

A public transport provider in Inverness is seeking motivated apprentices for a 4-year Engineering Maintenance Apprenticeship. Candidates will learn to maintain diesel and electric trains, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment. Applicants aged 17 to 24 (or up to 29 with a disability or care experience) should hold SCQF Level 5 qualifications. This role offers a starting salary of £23,006 per annum, with incremental increases upon completion of training milestones.

Qualifications

• Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and complete a 4-year apprenticeship.
• Must attend regular reviews to discuss progress and development.
• Ability to travel to and from college and work a shift pattern including night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair ScotRail’s fleet of vehicles including fault finding.
• Test electrical systems and check for wear and tear on bodywork.
• Perform regular checks on critical systems such as brakes and couplings.
