Network Rail in Stockport is seeking a Design Engineer to join the Works Delivery Internal Design Team. You will design schemes from remit to completion, with senior engineers providing guidance and plenty of site visits to see your designs come to life.

The role covers Civils, Structures or Geotechnics across the Northwest & Central Region. Based in Heaton Mersey with 35-hour weeks and a starting salary of £43,588 up to £53,167 per annum, this permanent post offers a structured pay framework

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent industry-trained qualification.
• IRSE Principles Designer licence or equivalent for the asset.
• Strong evaluation and decision-making skills.
• Working knowledge of rail engineering and related disciplines.
• Team player with clear communication.
• Understanding life-cycle stages of rail infrastructure.
• CDM, auditing and risk assessment competences.
• Membership of a relevant engineering institution is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant post-graduate experience.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsabilités

• Meeting and discussing remits with the Internal Client and delivering value-for-money work.
• Visiting sites, surveying and inspecting to support designs.
• Carrying out option feasibility with input from client and contractor.
• Designing schemes using hand calculations and software such as Slide, Geo5, Robot and Lusas.
• Working closely with the CAD team and in-house contractor for buildability.
• Assisting with site design queries and seeing designs come to life.
