Job summary

Streamline Search Limited is seeking a Civils Estimator for a Doncaster-based role supporting drainage, concrete and other civils projects within railway depots. You will review drawings, produce quantity take-offs and prepare detailed tender documentation to maximise value for rail and civil projects.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in civil estimating, with strong Excel skills and knowledge of estimating software. A full UK driving licence and site visits may be required.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of proven experience in estimating within civil engineering, groundworks or infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering construction methods including drainage, earthworks and rail.
• Experience preparing detailed cost estimates and tenders.
• Ability to take-off quantities from drawings and specs.
• Strong pricing of labour, materials, plant and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Review tender enquiries, drawings and specs to understand project requirements.
• Prepare detailed estimates and competitive tenders for civil engineering and rail projects.
• Complete accurate quantity take-offs for earthworks, drainage, concrete and utilities.
• Obtain and analyse quotations from subcontractors, suppliers and plant providers.
• Price labour, materials, plant, subcontractor costs, preliminaries and overheads.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and project teams to confirm tender requirements.
• Identify commercial risks and cost exposure within tenders and propose mitigations.
• Perform value engineering to improve cost efficiency.
• Prepare tender documentation and pricing schedules for submission.
• Collaborate with commercial and pre-construction teams to ensure accuracy.
