Job summary

Bidvane seeks a Trainee Assistant Practitioner to join Radiology at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. There is a pre-induction period, then a 24-month Higher Apprenticeship starting March 2027. The role supports radiographers with supervised radiography, patient care and imaging tasks across Trust sites, with extended hours on a seven-day rotating shift pattern.

Applicants must be 18+, meet entry qualifications, and commit to 27 months of study. Band 3 visa sponsorship restrictions apply to applicants.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths and English (A-C) or equivalent.
• Care Certificate and current statutory training.
• Minimum one year in a clinical hospital or health setting.

Responsibilities

• Undertake general radiographic examinations under supervision.
• Use X-ray equipment safely and maintain a safe clinical environment.
• Follow radiation regulations and department policies.
• Explain examinations and protect patient dignity, privacy and safety.
• Assess patient needs and cooperate to obtain diagnostic images.
• Assist radiographers, radiologists and sonographers during sessions.
• Support patient movement and handling and manage belongings securely.
• Check imaging requests for justification and escalate urgent findings.
• Initial assessment of images and raise urgent concerns for review.
• Liaise with wards, prioritise imaging across Trust sites.
