Job summary

Southend University Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Radiology Support Worker to join the team at the Broomfield Hospital site in Chelmsford. The role involves transporting patients and equipment to support the Radiology department and improve patient flow.

The position is active and requires good communication, physical ability, and a commitment to infection control and safety. Flexible shifts include early, late, mid-day, weekends, and bank holidays as rostered.

Qualifications

• Experience in a service environment and working with people.
• Good communication skills and ability to handle sensitive situations.
• Ability to be physically active and assist in moving patients and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Undertake all patient support tasks as requested by the Manager of the Day, superintendents and managers.
• Undertake urgent adhoc and scheduled tasks using the correct equipment within required response times and in line with Trust policies.
• Maintain good hygiene practices in line with infection control procedures.
• Observe Health & Safety regulations at all times.
• Attend staff induction and training and an annual appraisal.
• Ensure service user complaints and incidents are referred promptly to the Manager of the Day or Superintendent in charge.
• Transport patients and equipment across the Trust following Departmental and Trust procedures, respecting privacy and dignity.
• Maintain a smart appearance and wear the allocated uniform and safety gear at all times.
• Provide portering support in major incidents or site emergencies as directed.
• Work as part of a team and be flexible to cover annual leave and sickness, including bank holidays as rostered.
• Complete activity sheets with appropriate details as instructed by the Departmental Supervisor.
