The Radiology CSU at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest and most diverse imaging services in the UK, providing high-quality diagnostic imaging across multiple hospital sites. Main duties of the job

The Radiology Service delivers a diagnostic and treatment service to approximately 600,000 patients a year across 6 sites, the Ultrasound department is a major contributor to these examinations.

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the Ultrasound department, carrying out policies and procedures as specified by the Trust and Radiology Management Team.

They will undertake a wide range of duties to clinically support the Sonographers and Radiologists and be primarily responsible for the care of patients attending for Ultrasound examinations.

Duties will include assisting staff with interventional procedures such as biopsies and injections and adhering to aseptic techniques.

Chaperoning is a key part of the role. Patients attending the department can range from the unconscious to the fully mobile with uncooperative, incapacitated, anaesthetised, partially resuscitated, disorientated patients and those with complex physical and mental needs.

Some patients can exhibit antisocial or threatening behaviour.The post holder will work to departmental protocols and schemes of work and undertake both clinical and administrative duties.The post holder maybe required to work at other LTHT sites with a commitment to unsocial hours and weekend work.

The majority of the time they will work between LGI and SJUH sites.Effective communication is paramount with both the patient and other Team members to ensure the department runs safely and effectively.
