Job summary

The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate, part of Circle Health Group, has a bank Radiographer position in the Imaging department. The role supports staffing on an “as and when required” basis to cover busy periods and staff leave.

You will perform diagnostic radiographic procedures, ensure high-quality images, and collaborate with radiologists and the wider team. Relevant UK hospital experience and HCPC registration are required; postgraduate imaging training is desirable.

Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
  • HCPC registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
  • Experience in general radiographic techniques with UK hospital experience.
  • Knowledge of IR(ME)R, health & safety, infection control and patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, patient-centred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Postgraduate training in CT, MRI, theatre imaging or mammography desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of diagnostic radiographic procedures (general X-rays, theatre, fluoroscopy, mobiles) following referrals and imaging protocols.
  • Produce high-quality images to support accurate diagnosis and minimise repeats.
  • Adapt techniques for paediatrics, bariatrics, and patients with limited mobility.
  • Provide a safe, dignified, patient-centred service and keep patients informed and comfortable.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and respond to signs of deterioration.
  • Ensure equipment is checked, maintained, and used safely; report faults.
  • Assist in using new imaging technologies and digital systems (PACS, RIS).
  • Coordinate care with radiologists, consultants, nurses, porters and admin teams.

Bank Shifts Salary: Up to £22.00 per hour (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Radiographer to join their team of staff in the Imaging department.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Duties
  • Perform a wide range of diagnostic radiographic procedures (e.g., general X-rays, theatre, fluoroscopy, mobiles) following referral and imaging protocols.
  • Ensure high‑quality images are produced to support accurate diagnosis, minimising the need for repeat exposures.
  • Adapt techniques to meet the needs of individual patients, including paediatrics, bariatrics, and patients with limited mobility.
  • Provide a safe, dignified, and person‑centred service, ensuring patients are informed, comfortable, and reassured throughout their examination.
  • Monitor patients’ conditions during procedures and respond appropriately to any signs of deterioration.
  • Ensure equipment is checked, maintained, and used safely and effectively, reporting faults promptly.
  • Assist in the implementation and use of new imaging technologies, techniques, and digital systems (e.g., PACS, RIS).
  • Work closely with radiologists, consultants, nurses, porters, and admin teams to coordinate care efficiently and maintain smooth patient pathways.
Applicants should meet the following criteria
  • BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent qualification.
  • HCPC registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
  • Experience in general radiographic techniques and equipment with a minimum of 6 months UK hospital (NHS or private) experience.
  • Good understanding of IR(ME)R, health & safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient‑centred approach.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Postgraduate experience or additional training in a specialist area (e.g., CT, MRI, theatre imaging, mammography) desirable.
