Job summary

McLaren Racing in Woking is seeking a software engineer to join the dual-series software team supporting Hypercar and IndyCar data analysis tools. You will help develop high-quality bespoke software to enable engineering teams to analyse data, improve performance and deliver results on track.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of commercial software engineering experience.
• Motorsport or high-performance environment experience preferred.
• Strong OO programming, design patterns, data structures and algorithms, relational and NoSQL databases, and test-driven development.
• BSc in Computer Science or a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in C# or Python.
• Experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.
• Adaptability to work with different technologies per engineering requirements.
• Collaborative, small-team mindset with a focus on delivering quality work on time.
• Ability to work with engineers and technicians from diverse disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of bespoke software solutions to analyse data, improve performance and deliver results on track.
• Work across multiple projects using a wide range of programming languages, technologies and data formats.
• Participate in the full software lifecycle including requirements analysis, specification, architecture and design, development, deployment, maintenance and support.
• Support software and tools produced by the team, collaborating daily with engineers in IndyCar and Hypercar engineering.
• Respond to support queries and alerts; monitor systems and maintain day-to-day operations.
• Participate in stand-up, retrospective and planning meetings.
• Continue developing professional skills and identify new tools/technologies that could benefit the team.
• Provide event support across time zones, including out-of-hours and weekend work.
• Occasionally provide trackside support and international travel.
• Take on additional responsibilities to help the team go racing.
